Learner's Permit

Apex Driving School can guide you and provide study materials that include the Driver's Manual and sample quizzes from VA DMV, application forms and list of ID's that you can take with you when you apply for your learner's permit.

  • To obtain a learner's permit, you must be at least 15 years and 6 months of age.
  • When applying for a learner's permit, you must show two proofs of identity, one proof of legal presence and one proof of Virginia residency. Proof of your social security number (if you have been issued one) is required also.
  • If you are under age 18, you will be required to show one proof of identity, one proof of legal presence, and one proof of Virginia Residency. Proof of your social security number (if you have been issued one) is required also.
  • Take the two-part Knowledge exam which is given in English or Spanish on a computer and tests your knowledge of traffic signs, motor vehicle laws and safe driving techniques. Exam questions are taken from information in the Virginia Driver's Manual.
  • All ten traffic sign questions in Part One must be answered correctly before you can take the 30-question general knowledge exam in Part Two. You must score at least 80% on these questions to pass Part Two.
  • If some one fails knowledge Exam 3 times.We have a 8 hours reexamination class to re certify the student.

Driving Lessons

We provide behind the wheel instruction for teenagers and adult students.  For teenager students, we require that they have attended and completed the required classroom instructions (required for teenagers less than 18 years of age).  The student must have the completion form before they can start driving lessons.  We provide,

  • Driving lessons available from 7:00 AM to 10:0 PM.
  • Special attention to senior citizens and teenagers.
  • Restore confidence to nervous drivers young and adult.
  • Road Test instructions available to enhance your chances of passing the road test.

Road Test

ARE YOU READY?  Do you know what to do on a four-way stop sign or a flashing red light?  Many people take their driver license road tests without sufficient preparation. It is either they haven't practiced long enough or haven't practiced the correct standards set by DMV. Others simply become nervous because of overwhelming rules to remember or just simply not ready.

Get your license fast! For an additional fee we can arrange road test appointments.  Car rentals on the day of the road test are available. It is highly recommended to purchase an hour driving lesson on the same day of the driving test.  Let Apex Driving School help you to prepare for the test by showing you road-test techniques to pass the difficulties during road test.  Your professional instructor will patiently and calmly point out and correct the mistakes you are making. Practice all of the driving maneuvers you will have to complete on the road test including,

  • Parking
  • 3-point turn (turning around in a narrow street)
  • Safe driving in heavy traffic
  • Road test tips from your driver's manual to on-road experience like smooth steering and acceleration, avoiding jerky braking, speed, understanding traffic control signs, signals and markings, lane positioning, potential hazards around you while driving and many more.
